Brant Overview

In Wuthering Waves, Brant is a 5-Stars Fusion character and uses Sword during the fight.

Brant is a versatile DPS character who excels in mid-air combat, utilizing a unique playstyle centered around aerial Basic Attacks. His primary damage output comes from his powerful Basic Attack sequences, while also offering valuable support to allies through healing and shields. Brant’s Energy Regen can be converted into additional Attack, further enhancing his damage potential. Additionally, his Outro Skill provides teammates with a boost in Fusion Damage and Resonance Skill Damage Deepen, making him a well-rounded character who combines offense and utility seamlessly.

Pros
  • Deals decent damage
  • Key character in Triple DPS team
  • Able to provide Shield and Healing to allies
  • Outro Skill provide Fusion & RS Deepen buff to next character
Cons
  • Signature weapon is quite important to Brant which increase his cost of playing.

Brant Mechanism

Brant’s Mid-Air Attack

Brant’s Basic Attack is divided into two types: Ground and Mid-Air.

  • Ground Basic Attack has four stages, but it’s rarely used. Mid-Air is Brant’s main battlefield.

  • After the first or second Mid-Air Basic Attack:

    • If we tap the Basic Attack button, Brant will swing his rope and charge toward the enemy. Upon hitting the enemy, he flips backward and fires two bullets. This action resets Brant’s Mid-Air dodge count.

    • If Brant doesn’t hit an enemy during the swing, he will slash once and then perform a Plunge Attack.

  • If we hold the attack button, Brant will draw two arcs after hitting the enemy, dealing Spinning Attack damage, and then flip back to shoot.

For the third and fourth stages of Mid-Air Basic Attack, there is no special effect when holding the button:

  • The third stage creates a flame vortex on the enemy, followed by a backward flip and shooting.

  • The fourth stage is the simplest: Brant hooks onto the enemy from above and performs an X-shaped slash.

Similar to Jiyan, Brant can perform this series of attacks automatically by holding the attack button. However, after the third stage, there’s a brief pause. If you continue holding the button, Brant will land. To avoid this, simply release and tap the attack button again.

Here’s a practical double A4 tip:

  • Brant’s Mid-Air Basic Attack won’t progress to the next stage if he doesn’t perform the backward flip.

  • You can use dodge canceling to repeat a specific stage of the Basic Attack. The fourth Basic Attack is the most rewarding, as it has a 253% damage multiplier, is fast, and deals high damage.

  • To execute this: When Brant’s fourth-stage Basic Attack hits the enemy but before he lands, use dodge and then tap the attack button again.

  • The larger the enemy’s model (i.e., the higher the damage hitbox is from the ground), the easier this technique becomes.

Brant’s Resonance Skill

  • When Brant is on the ground, he fires a shot and backflips into the air.

  • When Brant is in the air, the Resonance Skill icon changes. Holding the Resonance Skill button will perform a Plunge Attack, but the damage type is considered as Resonance Skill, allowing it to trigger the Tidebreaking Courage Set bonus.

Brant’s Forte Circuit & Enhanced Resonance Skill “Returned from Ashes”

Next, let’s talk about Brant’s Forte Circuit and his Enhanced Resonance Skill, “Returned from Ashes”.

  • The passive effect 【Theatrical Moment】 in the Forte Circuit is Brant’s most unique mechanic.

    • For every 1 point of Energy Regen above 150%, it converts into 12 ATK. At 280% Energy Regen, this reaches maximum benefit.

  • Brant’s Forte Circuit bar has three white dots, dividing it into four sections.

    • Whenever Brant’s attacks hit an enemy, they generate “Bravo” energy.

    • When one section of the circuit is filled, the entire team is healed once. This can happen up to four times.

  • Once “Bravo” is fully charged, the Resonance Skill icon changes again, unlocking Brant’s Enhanced Resonance Skill, “Returned from Ashes”, which is his core damage-dealing ability.

    • It has a multiplier of nearly 1900%.

    • Due to its high damage, Brant’s Enhanced Resonance Skill has no cooldown, allowing him to perform two Enhanced Resonance Skills in a row for maximum damage.

Although “Returned from Ashes” has a long animation, the most vulnerable point is during the initial spinning motion. After that, Brant ascends to a safe height. The descent portion has high interruption resistance, making it unlikely to be interrupted by most enemies.

Additionally, upon activating “Returned from Ashes”, the entire team gains a 9000+ shield. Each character’s shield is independent and lasts for 30 seconds.

  • Compared to healing, this shield is Brant’s greatest value.

  • Brant’s healing, shielding, and damage are all integrated into his Forte Circuit, making him a versatile character who excels in both damage and survivability.

Brant’s Resonance Liberation

Brant’s Resonance Liberation has relatively low damage, but it grants him a buff called “Aflame”, which lasts for 12 seconds.

  • During this time, the “Bravo” energy gained is doubled.

  • Brant’s passive 【Theatrical Moment】 is replaced with 【”My” Moment】, increasing the ATK conversion rate from Energy Regen from 1:12 to 1:20, with a maximum increase of 2600 ATK.

  • The “Aflame” buff does not disappear when switching characters. However, if Brant uses “Returned from Ashes”, the buff ends immediately.

  • The best way to use this is to activate the Resonance Liberation, perform a full set of Mid-Air Basic Attacks to fill the Forte Circuit, and then use the Enhanced Resonance Skill to maximize damage.

Brant’s Intro/Outro Skill

Finally, let’s look at Brant’s Intro and Outro Skills:

  • Brant’s Intro Skill places him directly in the air, skipping the first or second Basic Attack to activate the Mid-Air Attack combo.

  • His Outro Skill provides the next character with 20% Fusion Damage% and 25% Resonance Skill Damage Deepen.

S1
Brant’s Resonance Skill directly freezes (halts) enemies.
This means it won’t get interrupted, and you don’t have to worry about missing the attack.

In terms of damage:
The damage boost provided by Brant’s S1 is approximately 25.6%.

S2
The most noticeable benefit of S2 is the 30% increase in critical rate.

If your Brant has S2 unlocked,
then make sure to choose Critical Damage as the main stat for the 4-star Echo.

Additionally, after the Outro Skill, the next character to perform a Resonance Skill will trigger two explosions, which is considered an bonus.

The damage boost of S2 is approximately 22.1%.

S3
S3 is very straightforward and directly increases the multiplier of the Enhance Resonance Skill.
The damage boost is approximately 23%.

S4
S4 adds ammount of shield and healing.

S5
S5 adds a small damage boost, but the effect is minimal.

S6

Sub Stats

Energy Regen (150%, plus Character 100% base energy regen = 250%) > Crit Rate or CRIT DMG > Basic Attack DMG Bonus > ATK% >  ATK

The Tidebreaking Courage set, is the Brant’s top choice. The 5-piece set effect grants a 30% damage boost when Energy Regen reaches 250%, making this threshold a strict requirement. While you don’t need to hit the  Brant’s full 280% Energy Regen requirement, you must ensure 250% Energy Regen when using the Tidebreaking Courage set. Sources of Energy Regen include: the Signature Weapon (77%), two 3C Echoes’s main stat (64%), and the Tidebreaking Courage 2-piece set bonus (10%), totaling 251%— the target is reahced even without any Energy Regen substats. If your Energy Regen substats exceed 31%, you can opt for 1 Energy Regen and 1 Fusion Damage% for 3C’s main stats. At 250% Energy Regen, the difference between “double Energy Regen” and “Energy Regen + Fusion Damage%” is minimal, but be careful not to let Energy Regen exceed 280%.

As for main stats:

  • For Brant below S2, the 4-star Echo should prioritize Crit Rate.
  • At S2 and above, prioritize Crit Damage.
  • For the 3-star Echo, go with either 2 Energy Regen or 1 Energy Regen + 1 Fusion Damage%.
  • The 1-star Echo should focus on ATK% as the main stat.

Regarding substats:
Once the 250% Energy Regen requirement is met, focus on Crit Rate and Crit Damage for the best returns, followed by Normal Attack damage bonus, and finally ATK% and Flat ATK.

For players who don’t have the Signature Weapon and can’t reach 250% Energy Regen, use the Molten Rift set with 4c Echo Inferno Rider with main stat Crit Rate. Do note that the two 3c Echoes should still prioritize Energy Regen as the main stat due to how bonuses are calculated. With the Molten Rift set, using 1 Energy Regen + 1 Fusion Damage% instead of double Energy Regen will result in a 4% damage loss, which is a noticeable difference. Substat priorities remain unchanged.

The Molten Rift set has one drawback: it requires Resonance Skills to activate the set bonus. This isn’t an issue for duo Intro Skill playstyles, as both the Brant’s Resonance Skill and the Enhance Resonance Skill can trigger the effect. However, for single Outro Skill playstyles, you’ll need to use the Echo Skill and Resonance Skill before the Outro Skill, which adds a bit more operational complexity.

Brant’s Signature Weapon provides 77% energy regen, so if you’re using other weapons, Brant shouldn’t equip the Tidebreaking Courage set and should instead use the Molten Rift set, as you won’t be able to reach 250% energy regen to trigger the Tidebreaking Courage set bonus.

Camellya’s Signature Weapon, Red Spring, paired with the Molten Rift set, damage boost achieves 84.3% ;
Emerald of Genesis with the Molten Rift set achieves 80%;
Blazing Brilliance with the Molten Rift set achieves 77.7%;
and Overture performs similarly with both the Tidebreaking Courage and Molten Rift sets, with 71% damage boost at both R1 and R5.

The Battle Pass weapon, Lumingloss, is not very effective, as it only provides 66% damage boost at R1 and 75% at R5.

Brant Team Comp

Brant Best Team I

Main DPS – Changli

Changli is a DPS mainly deal RS type Fusion damage, which can fully utilize Brant’s Outro Skill’s buff.

Sub DPS – Brant

Brant is a DPS with the capability to provide healing and shields to allies. Most of Brant’s attacks are counted as Basic Attacks. The Outro Skill provides Fusion and RS Damage Deepen buff to teammate.

Healer or Support – Shorekeeper/Verina/Sanhua (Shorekeeper > Verina ≈ Sanhua)

In addition to providing the traditional 15% All DMG Deepen like other healers, Shorekeeper’s Liberation can offer continuous healing, crit rate, and crit damage, making it very powerful. The Outro Skill’s buff allows knocked-back teammates to immediately recover from the interruption.

Verina’s healing abilities and Concerto Energy acquisition abilities are both greater than Baizhi’s, making her the preferred healer character. Verina’s Inherent Skill provides a one-time death immunity effect.

Verina’s healing amount is based on her ATK, so Verina has a certain degree of damage output. If you build her well, her damage should not be underestimated. Verina’s Inherent Skill can provide a 20% attack buff to the entire team. Sanhua’s Basic Attack Deepen Buff can maximize the damage of Brant.

Sanhua’s Basic Attack Deepen Buff can maximize the damage of Brant.

More Build Guides

Calcharo

Calcharo primarily uses the enhanced Basic Attack and enhanced Forte Circuit after using Resonance Liberation for damage output. In the series of damage output after using Resonance Liberation, the damage ratio between Resonance Liberation and Basic Attack is approximately 2.2:1. Additionally, the Resonance Skill can be released at intervals, allowing full enjoyment of the permanent five-star weapon’s effects.

After using Resonance Liberation, Calcharo gains a new Basic Attack model. The multiplier for this attack is related to the level of Resonance Liberation, but the main proportion of his damage comes from the “Death Messenger” in Forte Circuit. Resonance Skill can be used during the Liberation period to interrupt Basic Attack combos, quickly generate Forte Circuit Energy, and trigger “Death Messenger”. The main components of his damage output consist of these three elements.

Encore

mong the permanent 5-star Fusion DPS characters, Encore enters an enhanced state and changes attack mode after activating Resonance Liberation. The main source of Encore’s damage comes from Basic Attacks after activating Resonance Liberation, not the Forte Circuit. Additionally, the cooldowns for Encore’s regular Resonance Skill and the enhanced Resonance Skill during Resonance Liberation are independent of each other.

In Encore’s damage output after activating Resonance Liberation, Basic Attack damage accounts for nearly 70%. Choosing Sanhua as a teammate can maximize her damage potential.

Sanhua

Although Sanhua has burst capabilities, the overall damage is not high. In Sanhua’s output cycle, Resonance Skill damage and Resonance Liberation account for approximately 51% and 41%, respectively.

Although Resonance Skill damage is slightly higher, there is a risk of missing in actual combat. Sanhua has a unique Forte Circuit trigger mechanism similar to rhythm games, and hitting enemies can cause a slight time-stopping effect.

Sanhua has the fastest Concerto Energy and Resonance Energy acquisition efficiency in the game, making it the most versatile and best-feeling support in the current version. After using the Intro Skill, Sanhua only needs 3 seconds to fully charge Concerto Energy and trigger QTE, activating the Main DPS for output. Our team composition recommendations for various characters also show Sanhua’s high versatility.
