Galbrena Overview

In Wuthering Waves, Galbrena is a 5-Stars Fusion character and uses Pistol, Pistols during the fight.

Galbrena Mechanism

Forte Circuit Energy – Afterflame & Sinflame

First, in her normal state, Galbrena’s Forte Circuit has two types of energy, separated by a demon ram’s head icon. The left half is called Afterflame, which we can refer to as the Red Bar. If Galbrena is off-field, this Afterflame is displayed directly below her character portrait. Any character in the team using an Echo Skill will increase this Afterflame. The maximum for Afterflame is 40 points, and one Echo Skill adds 8 points. Therefore, with three characters in the team, using a total of 5 Echo Skills will fill it, though repeatedly using Echo Skills of the same name only counts once. The purpose of the Red Bar is to increase Galbrena’s damage after she enters the enhanced state.

The right half, the purple section, is called Sinflame. We can simply call it the Purple Bar, with a maximum of 100 points. Basic Attacks, Heavy Attacks, Resonance Skills, and Intro Skills can replenish this Purple Bar. Once it is full, you can use the Enhanced Resonance Skill to enter the enhanced state and consume energy to perform enhanced attacks.

Therefore, Galbrena’s attack logic is very straightforward: in the normal state, use Echo Skills to fill the Red Bar and use Basic Attacks to fill the Purple Bar. Then, enter the enhanced state to begin dealing burst damage.

As for Galbrena’s Resonance Liberation, in addition to dealing damage, it also increases the damage she deals while in the enhanced state. Therefore, it is generally used before entering the enhanced state.

Special Dodge – Hellstride

Now, let’s look at each of Galbrena’s skills one by one, starting with her unique special dodge, Hellstride. When Galbena uses any skill, for example, a Basic Attack or a Heavy Attack, her next dodge will become a slide. This slide can trigger normal dodge effects, but it does not reset the combo sequence of Basic Attacks or Heavy Attacks. This is important when Gelbrena needs to dodge enemies’ attack during burst and will be explained in below sections.

Galbrena’s Basic Attack & Heavy Attack

Starting with her normal state, the most commonly used and important attacks are Basic Attacks and Heavy Attacks. Galbrena’s normal Basic Attack has four segments. The first, second, and third segments deal Heavy Attack damage. The final, fourth segment has a noticeable charging motion and deals Echo damage. You only need to focus on this fourth Basic Attack segment because we typically follow it by chaining into other skills. After the fourth Basic Attack, you can chain into the second Basic Attack segment, or hold the Basic Attack key to quickly chain into a Heavy Attack. This not only cancels the recovery animation of the Basic Attack but also helps Galbrena quickly stack layers and increase damage.

Galbrena’s normal Heavy Attack has three segments. The first and second segments deal Heavy Attack damage, while the final segment deals Echo damage and has a very distinct charging feel. Similar to the Basic Attack, you usually only need to remember this final Heavy Attack segment. The third segment of this Heavy Attack can also chain into other skills. Tapping the attack key again will chain into the third Basic Attack segment, and both the third and fourth Basic Attack segments have relatively high multipliers, especially the fourth segment, which deals the Echo damage that constitutes the main part of Galbrena’s damage.

So, when playing, remember to make good use of chaining and alternate between Basic Attacks and Heavy Attacks. For example, after holding to complete a Heavy Attack, chain into two Basic Attack segments, then chain into a Heavy Attack, and repeat this cycle.

The first two segments of the Heavy Attack can also chain into Basic Attacks, but the benefit is relatively low, so they are basically unused and can be ignored.

Now, let’s talk about Galbrena’s Mid-Airl attack. After Galbrena jumps, if you tap the attack key, she will perform a plunging attack. But if you hold the attack key, she will continuously spin in the air and fire downward. Releasing the key will trigger the plunging attack.

This sweeping attack has a slight grouping effect, but its damage and energy regeneration are not outstanding, so it is generally not used.

Galbrena’s Resonance Skill

Next, let’s look at Galbrena’s Resonance Skill. Galbrena will dash forward and then jump into the air. Tapping the key will make her perform a plunge, while holding it will make her perform the sweeping attack. However, its damage is not even as high as the Basic Attack, so it is generally not used in normal combos. Its advantage is its very short cooldown of only 5 seconds.

Enhance State – Demon Hypostasis

Whether it’s Basic Attacks, Heavy Attacks, aerial attacks, or Resonance Skills, hitting enemies will replenish the Purple Bar, Sinflame. Among these, Basic Attacks and Heavy Attacks have the highest regeneration efficiency.

When the Purple Bar is full, the Resonance Skill will be enhanced to Ascent of Malice.

After using Ascent of Malice, Galbrena will enter the Demon Hypostasis state. We can simply call this the enhanced state. At this point, Galbrena’s Forte Circuit bar will change its appearance. Originally split into two sections, red on the left and purple on the right, it now becomes a single bar with a full capacity of 100 points.

In the enhanced state, Galbrena’s Basic Attacks and Heavy Attacks will consume energy to become enhanced attacks. The damage multipliers are specified in the Forte Circuit description and are independent of those in the normal state.

Galbrena’s enhanced Basic Attack has five segments. The first three segments deal Heavy Attack damage, while the fourth and fifth segments deal Echo damage.

If you continue pressing the attack key after the fifth segment, Galbrena will chain into the third enhanced Basic Attack segment, creating a loop.

It’s best to familiarize yourself with the 3rd, 4th, and 5th segments of the enhanced Basic Attack, as they have special characteristics. The third segment involves drawing a circle, flying into the air, and spreading her fiery wings. The fourth segment is a dive followed by a turn and a wing swipe, creating a spatial rift. The fifth segment involves kicking that rift to make it explode.

The special aspect of the third segment is that it not only deals Galbrena’s secondary damage type (Heavy Attack damage), but it also consumes a very high amount of energy.Furthermore, this segment is Galbrena’s dodge counter in the enhanced state. What impact does this have? For example, originally after entering the enhanced state, you might be able to use the 5th enhanced Basic Attack segment twice. But if you trigger a dodge counter in the middle to avoid an attack, you might only be able to use the 5th segment once. Simply put, it results in a significant loss of damage.

How to solve this problem? This is where Hellstride is used. In fact, this third enhanced Basic Attack consists of three small instances of damage plus one large instance of damage. Energy consumption works the same way: the first three small hits only consume 6 energy, but the final wing spread consumes 15. Therefore, when you trigger a dodge counter, it’s best to press the dodge key again to interrupt this counter action. Because Hellstride does not reset the combo sequence, we can continue chaining into the 4th and 5th enhanced Basic Attack segments. This ensures Galbrena’s core damage output during combat.

The characteristic of the 4th enhanced Basic Attack is that the spatial rift Galbrena creates will stall the enemy’s actions until the 5th enhanced Basic Attack kicks and explodes the rift. Therefore, Galbrena’s output environment in the enhanced state is relatively safe. If you encounter a situation where you need to dodge, remember to use Hellstride to interrupt the dodge counter and then continue chaining the 4th and 5th enhanced Basic Attacks.

The Heavy Attack in the enhanced state isn’t particularly special. Apart from higher damage, its animation and damage delivery are the same as the normal version: the first two segments still deal Heavy Attack damage, and the final segment deals Echo damage.

The same goes for the plunging attack in the enhanced state; aside from higher damage, there’s no difference, and it’s basically unused.

As for the Resonance Skill in the enhanced state, it is functionally the same skill as in the normal state, sharing the same damage multiplier, animation, and cooldown, while also consuming energy. Therefore, we ignore it; just act as if the enhanced Resonance Skill doesn’t exist.

So, to summarize the attack methods in the enhanced state, it essentially boils down to using either enhanced Basic Attacks or enhanced Heavy Attacks. Although you can use the various chaining relationships between Basic and Heavy Attacks to try to improve energy utilization, the improvement is extremely limited. Therefore, after entering the enhanced state, just keep using the enhanced Basic Attack. The only thing to remember is to use Hellstride to interrupt the dodge counter if it gets triggered.

Galbrena’s Resonance Liberation

Besides dealing damage, Galbrena’s Resonance Liberation also applies a 14-second buff to herself. During these 14 seconds, the multipliers for her enhanced Basic Attacks and enhanced Heavy Attacks are increased by 85%, nearly doubling. Therefore, you must use Resonance Liberation before performing enhanced attacks.

Whether you use Resonance Liberation first or enter the enhanced state first doesn’t really matter. That is, you can fill the Purple Bar, then press the Enhanced Resonance Skill and Resonance Liberation in quick succession. Alternatively, you can use Resonance Liberation first and then enter the enhanced state. Personally, I prefer using the Enhanced Resonance Skill followed immediately by Resonance Liberation.

Other Ways to Enhancing Damage

Apart from the effect of Resonance Liberation, Galbrena has several other ways to empower herself. First is Afterflame. In the normal state, any team member using an Echo Skill adds 8 points, up to a maximum of 40 points. When Galbrena enters the enhanced state, for every point of Afterflame she has, enemies will take 1.5% increased damage from her enhanced attacks during that state (a Vulnerability effect). With 40 points maxed, this is 60%. Simply put, the damage Galbrena deals is multiplied by 1.6.

However, please note that only enhanced attacks—those that consume Circuit energy—benefit from this effect. It does not apply to all attacks during the enhanced state. For example, Resonance Liberation is not affected.

In short, remember that Galbrena’s own Echo Skills must be used before she enters the enhanced state.

Next is a buff called Burning Drive. You can see a groove below the Forte Circuit bar. When Galbrena uses an Intro Skill, Hellstride, the 4th enhanced Basic Attack, or those specific Resonance Skills, a rapidly depleting white bar appears. This represents the Burning Drive buff, which provides a 20% ATK increase and increased interruption resistance. Although the duration is short, only 4 seconds, there are many ways to trigger it. During Galbrena’s burst window, it’s practically a permanent buff, so you don’t need to pay special attention to it. The only thing to note is ensuring that Resonance Liberation benefits from this buff, which is why it’s suggested to use the Enhanced Resonance Skill followed immediately by Resonance Liberation.

Finally, the last method of empowerment is Galbrena’s Inherent Skill, Oathbound Hunt. This is represented by the grading mark below the enemy’s health bar. When Galbrena hits an enemy with any attack, she applies one stack of a debuff to the enemy. Each stack increases the damage Galbrena deals to that enemy by 5%, up to a maximum of 4 stacks. 1/2/3/4 stacks correspond to C/B/A/S marks. However, note that for a single enemy, one type of Galbrena’s attack can only apply one stack every 5 seconds.

Therefore, it is recommended to chain Basic Attacks into Heavy Attacks, or Heavy Attacks into Basic Attacks, to stack these layers quickly.

Intro Skill and Outro Skill
The remaining Outro and Intro Skills are simple. The Outro Skill purely deals damage. The Intro Skill can be chained into the 2nd segment of a Basic Attack or the 2nd segment of a Heavy Attack

Sequence 3
Sequence 4
Sequence 5
Sequence 6

*You will notice two different values listed for S1 and S6. This is because the effectiveness of these Resonance Chains scales with the number of Afterflame stacks. In currently available teams, the maximum Afterflame is 24 stacks, whereas in future optimized teams, it will be possible to reach the full 40 stacks. This results in a difference in the performance of these Resonance Chains.

S1
Increases the Crit DMG of enhanced attacks. The damage increase is 48% in a Galbrena + Lupa + Shorekeeper team, and 80% in a future optimized team. It also grants interruption immunity during the final hit of enhanced attacks. However, since the 5th enhanced Basic Attack already has a stalling effect, this part of the benefit is minor.

S2
The description “increases the ATK bonus by 350%” refers to the Burning Drive buff. Originally, Burning Drive provides a 20% ATK increase. With S2, this becomes 20% * (1 + 3.5) = a 90% ATK increase. This translates to an approximate 23% damage increase.

S3
Increases the multiplier of Resonance Liberation by (1 + 1.3), resulting in an approximate 20% damage increase.

S4 / S5
Transitional RCs.

S6
There are two effects :

The “60% damage multiplier increase” means that the original post-Resonance Liberation enhanced attack multiplier (Base * 1.85) becomes (Base * 1.85 * 1.6). This is a multiplicative increase.

Upon entering the enhanced state, provides a Fusion DMG Deepen bonus based on the number of Afterflame stacks. This gives a 37% increase in a Galbrena + Lupa + Shorekeeper team, and an estimated 46% increase in a future optimized team.

Galbrena’s signature weapon provides a 24% Damage Deepen buff and 8% DEF Ignore. Since nearly all of Galbrena’s damage (excluding her Intro, Outro, and Hellstride) consists of Heavy Attack and Echo damage, these buffs are effectively permanent.

While both “The Last Dance” and “Woodland Aria” are stat sticks for her, “Woodland Aria” provides an excessive amount of Crit Rate, which Galbrena can easily overcap. Therefore, “Woodland Aria” is inferior to “The Last Dance”.

Calcharo

Calcharo primarily uses the enhanced Basic Attack and enhanced Forte Circuit after using Resonance Liberation for damage output. In the series of damage output after using Resonance Liberation, the damage ratio between Resonance Liberation and Basic Attack is approximately 2.2:1. Additionally, the Resonance Skill can be released at intervals, allowing full enjoyment of the permanent five-star weapon’s effects.

After using Resonance Liberation, Calcharo gains a new Basic Attack model. The multiplier for this attack is related to the level of Resonance Liberation, but the main proportion of his damage comes from the “Death Messenger” in Forte Circuit. Resonance Skill can be used during the Liberation period to interrupt Basic Attack combos, quickly generate Forte Circuit Energy, and trigger “Death Messenger”. The main components of his damage output consist of these three elements.

Encore

mong the permanent 5-star Fusion DPS characters, Encore enters an enhanced state and changes attack mode after activating Resonance Liberation. The main source of Encore’s damage comes from Basic Attacks after activating Resonance Liberation, not the Forte Circuit. Additionally, the cooldowns for Encore’s regular Resonance Skill and the enhanced Resonance Skill during Resonance Liberation are independent of each other.

In Encore’s damage output after activating Resonance Liberation, Basic Attack damage accounts for nearly 70%. Choosing Sanhua as a teammate can maximize her damage potential.

Sanhua

Although Sanhua has burst capabilities, the overall damage is not high. In Sanhua’s output cycle, Resonance Skill damage and Resonance Liberation account for approximately 51% and 41%, respectively.

Although Resonance Skill damage is slightly higher, there is a risk of missing in actual combat. Sanhua has a unique Forte Circuit trigger mechanism similar to rhythm games, and hitting enemies can cause a slight time-stopping effect.

Sanhua has the fastest Concerto Energy and Resonance Energy acquisition efficiency in the game, making it the most versatile and best-feeling support in the current version. After using the Intro Skill, Sanhua only needs 3 seconds to fully charge Concerto Energy and trigger QTE, activating the Main DPS for output. Our team composition recommendations for various characters also show Sanhua’s high versatility.
