Hiyuki Overview
In Wuthering Waves, Hiyuki is a 5-Stars Glacio character and uses Sword during the fight.
Hiyuki Mechanism
First, let’s go over Hiyuki’s normal state.
In her normal state, her Basic Attack has three stages. If you hold down the Basic Attack key, she will continuously perform the full sequence. Upon landing the third stage, she gains one stack of her Forte Circuit energy. This normal-state Circuit energy is what the skill descriptions refer to as Dedication.
Then, if you use her normal-state Resonance Skill and follow up with the attack key, Hiyuki will directly perform the third stage of her Basic Attack. This Basic Attack grants one additional stack of Dedication. However, this combo is only used when soloing.
This is because, in a team setting, when Hiyuki uses her Intro Skill to enter the field, she directly gains 2 stacks of Dedication and will also directly perform the third stage of her Basic Attack, granting another stack of Dedication. This fully fills her Dedication.
When her Circuit energy is full, holding down the Basic Attack key will cause Hiyuki to perform her normal-state special Heavy Attack, which the skill descriptions refer to as Heavy Attack – Frost Splinter: Present Self.
Although the animation for this Heavy Attack is quite long, it has a powerful time-stop effect. Throughout the entire attack, the enemy is effectively paused. After using this Heavy Attack, Hiyuki’s Resonance Liberation becomes available.
Hiyuki’s Resonance Liberation is divided into two parts.
The first part is what the skill texts call Foreclaiming: Inward Vision. Its function is to put Hiyuki into the Foreclaimed Self state – in other words, her enhanced state.
Unlike her normal state, Hiyuki has a standard Heavy Attack while in her enhanced state. This is referred to in the skill descriptions as Heavy Attack – Foreclaimed Self, which we can also call her normal Iai.
By holding down the Basic Attack key, Hiyuki will enter a stance, preparing to draw her blade. She will maintain this stance for as long as you hold the button, though it will continuously consume stamina.
When you release the attack key, Hiyuki will dash forward. If she is hit by an enemy attack during this dash, she will negate that damage and pause the surrounding enemies. Following this, she will have interruption resistance for a short period and take 100% reduced damage. You can basically think of it as taking zero damage during the Iai attack animation.
Iai Stance & Frostheart
Hiyuki also has another type of Circuit energy called Frostheart. Every time you gain 100 Frostheart, a marker will appear to indicate that you have reached 100 points.
Frostheart is blue by default, but this can change.
Let’s first explain how to gain Frostheart.
When you activate the first part of her Resonance Liberation, you are first given 50 points of Frostheart. Then, after entering her enhanced state (Foreclaimed Self), both Hiyuki’s Basic Attacks and Resonance Skills are strengthened, and landing hits on enemies will generate Frostheart.
Hiyuki’s enhanced Basic Attack, known in the skill descriptions as Basic Attack – Foreclaimed Self, has a total of 5 stages.
Her enhanced Resonance Skill, meanwhile, becomes a charge-based ability. It has a maximum of 2 charges, with one charge replenishing every 12 seconds. If you use it while on the ground, Hiyuki will launch the enemy and rise into the air. If you use it while in the air, she will perform a plunging attack back down to the ground.
When Hiyuki has at least 100 Frostheart, she can enter the Iai Stance by dodging after any attack animation, or by holding down her Enhanced Resonance Skill. She can enter this stance from both the ground and the air.
If you hold the forward movement key while entering Iai Stance, Hiyuki will consume stamina and teleport behind the enemy.
Then, when you press the Basic Attack key, Hiyuki will consume 100 points of Frostheart to perform a Basic Attack – Iai. During this attack, the same principle applies: she negates one instance of damage, followed by a short period of interruption resistance and damage reduction.
After performing one Basic Attack – Iai, if you still have 100 Frostheart remaining, Hiyuki will automatically maintain the Iai Stance. Pressing the Basic Attack key again will allow you to use it once more.
When Hiyuki activates the first part of her Resonance Liberation, she gains 3 stacks of Frostharden Iai.
Then, each time she performs a Basic Attack – Iai, it consumes one stack of Frostharden Iai. Specifically, for the first three Iai attacks after activating the first part of her Resonance Liberation, each one will:
Apply the Glacio Chafe effect to the enemy 3 times, and
Grant 1 stack of Whiteout Bitterfrost.
So, after performing those three Iai attacks, you will have the maximum of 3 stacks of Whiteout Bitterfrost. At this point, if you hold down the Basic Attack key, Hiyuki will unleash her enhanced Heavy Attack, which the skill texts refer to as Heavy Attack – Bitterfrost: Foreclaimed Self.
This enhanced Heavy Attack also possesses a time-stop effect, meaning enemy actions and the battle timer are paused during its animation.
There is one important thing to note here. Although Hiyuki’s enhanced Heavy Attack has no cooldown, it requires consuming 3 stacks of Frostharden Iai to obtain 3 stacks of Whiteout Bitterfrost in order to be used. In practice, you can only use it once per Resonance Liberation cycle.
Snowforged Blade
When Hiyuki uses her enhanced Heavy Attack (Heavy Attack – Bitterfrost: Foreclaimed Self), she gains 1 stack of Snowforged Blade. The purpose of this resource is to increase the damage of her second-stage Resonance Liberation, which is called Foreclaiming: Blade Liberation.
Foreclaiming: Blade Liberation functions like the Resonance Liberation for most other characters: you need to fully charge its energy before it can be used.
When its energy is full, you can activate Foreclaiming: Blade Liberation.
If you tap the Resonance Liberation key, the game will automatically handle it. If you have 3 stacks of Snowforged Blade, it will consume all of them when releasing Foreclaiming: Blade Liberation. The base damage of Foreclaiming: Blade Liberation is 994%, and each stack of Snowforged Blade consumed increases its damage by 795%. This allows it to achieve a maximum multiplier of 3380% for the second-stage Resonance Liberation.
If you hold the Resonance Liberation key instead, Hiyuki will begin a charging pose. The entire game will pause – it won’t eat into your timer. As she charges, she will consume Snowforged Blade stacks one by one. She will then release Foreclaiming: Blade Liberation either when you release the button or when all stacks have been consumed.

Glacio Bite can be inflicted on frozen targets. Glacio Bite is also considered Glacio Chafe and Glacio Bite DMG is also considered Glacio Chafe DMG.

Calcharo
Calcharo primarily uses the enhanced Basic Attack and enhanced Forte Circuit after using Resonance Liberation for damage output. In the series of damage output after using Resonance Liberation, the damage ratio between Resonance Liberation and Basic Attack is approximately 2.2:1. Additionally, the Resonance Skill can be released at intervals, allowing full enjoyment of the permanent five-star weapon’s effects.
After using Resonance Liberation, Calcharo gains a new Basic Attack model. The multiplier for this attack is related to the level of Resonance Liberation, but the main proportion of his damage comes from the “Death Messenger” in Forte Circuit. Resonance Skill can be used during the Liberation period to interrupt Basic Attack combos, quickly generate Forte Circuit Energy, and trigger “Death Messenger”. The main components of his damage output consist of these three elements.
Encore
mong the permanent 5-star Fusion DPS characters, Encore enters an enhanced state and changes attack mode after activating Resonance Liberation. The main source of Encore’s damage comes from Basic Attacks after activating Resonance Liberation, not the Forte Circuit. Additionally, the cooldowns for Encore’s regular Resonance Skill and the enhanced Resonance Skill during Resonance Liberation are independent of each other.
In Encore’s damage output after activating Resonance Liberation, Basic Attack damage accounts for nearly 70%. Choosing Sanhua as a teammate can maximize her damage potential.
Sanhua
Although Sanhua has burst capabilities, the overall damage is not high. In Sanhua’s output cycle, Resonance Skill damage and Resonance Liberation account for approximately 51% and 41%, respectively.
Although Resonance Skill damage is slightly higher, there is a risk of missing in actual combat. Sanhua has a unique Forte Circuit trigger mechanism similar to rhythm games, and hitting enemies can cause a slight time-stopping effect.
Sanhua has the fastest Concerto Energy and Resonance Energy acquisition efficiency in the game, making it the most versatile and best-feeling support in the current version. After using the Intro Skill, Sanhua only needs 3 seconds to fully charge Concerto Energy and trigger QTE, activating the Main DPS for output. Our team composition recommendations for various characters also show Sanhua’s high versatility.
