Iuno Overview

In Wuthering Waves, Iuno is a 5-Stars Aero character and uses Gauntlet during the fight.

Iuno Mechanism

Iuno’s Basic Attack – Moonring & Moonbow

Iuno uses a lunar ring for her Basic Attacks, so we can call this “Ring Attack”. It deals standard Basic Attack damage.

However, Iuno has another type of Basic Attack where she unfolds the lunar ring into a lunar bow to attack. We can call this “Bow Attack”. It also has three segments, but with higher multipliers, and it deals Resonance Liberation damage, which is core to Iuno’s kit.

It’s worth noting that Iuno does not have a Heavy Attack. If you hold down the Basic Attack key, Iuno will automatically perform continuous Ring Attacks or Bow Attacks.

So, how do you trigger the Bow Attack?
When performing the third segment of a Basic Attack, using an Intro Skill, or using a Resonance Skill, the Resonance Skill icon—a white horizontal ring—will glow and transform into a tilted, downward-plunging ring.

This is the Closing Refrain mentioned in the skill description. We can refer to it as the Enhanced Resonance Skill.

When you press this Enhanced Resonance Skill, Iuno performs a leg lift followed by a downward strike. You’ll then see a blue glow on the ground, a giant moon appearing in the sky, and the Forte Circuit bar turning blue. A countdown buff will also appear, and Iuno will gain a new jump skill icon. This indicates that Iuno has entered the Lunar Cycle state.

In the Lunar Cycle state, Iuno’s movement mode changes to flight. Although she can only move horizontally, there are no height restrictions, and she can continue flying even without stamina.

Enhanced Status – Lunar Cycle

In combat, the Lunar Cycle state is divided into two phases: Half Moon and New Moon. When entering the enhanced state through any method, you will first default to the Half Moon state.

In the Half Moon state, Basic Attacks remain Ring Attacks, with the same damage multipliers, animations, and speed as the normal state. However, in this state, Ring Attacks restore the Forte Circuit bar when they hit enemies.

The Resonance Skill icon in the Half Moon state changes again, becoming a vertical ring. This is the Unfinished Refrain mentioned in the skill description. It shares a cooldown with the Closing Refrain and has identical damage, animations, and effects—essentially the same skill. There is no need to distinguish between the two.

There will be a leftmost icon , which corresponds to the jump skill. This is the Heavy Attack – Flux: Moonring mentioned in the skill description.

In the Half Moon state, the icon shows three arrows. If your Forte Circuit Energy is full, the icon will glow, but this does not affect its damage. The glow simply reminds you to switch to the New Moon state.

When you press the jump key, Iuno dashes downward but reappears in the air. The Half Moon in the sky transforms into a New Moon, and the lunar ring at Iuno’s feet unfolds into a lunar bow. The previously calm blue energy on the Forte Circuit bar begins to fluctuate, and the central icon changes into a bow shape. This is why we can also call this the “Bow State.”

In this state, Iuno’s Basic Attacks become Bow Attacks. If you have Forte Circuit Energy, Bow Attacks will consume it to increase damage multipliers and gain additional Concerto Energy. The three segments of Bow Attacks consume 10/15/25 Forte Circuit Energy, respectively. If you run out of energy, the damage remains unaffected as long as some energy is consumed. For example, if only 10 Energy remains during the third Bow Attack segment, consuming 10 Energy will yield the same damage as consuming 25.

The same logic applies to the Resonance Skill. In the New Moon (or Bow) state, Iuno’s Resonance Skill becomes a charge-based skill like Changli’s or Chixia’s, recharging every 10 seconds with a maximum of 2 charges. This is the Arc Beyond the Edge mentioned in the skill description. We can simply call it “Arrow Shot.”

You can use this skill even without Forte Circuit Energy, but consuming Forte Circuit Energy significantly increases its damage and grants additional Concerto Energy. Additionally, this skill has a unique feature: you can input a direction key while shooting to dash in that direction. It can also be used while being hit to break out of the hitstun state.

The  jump skill can be used to switch back to the Half Moon state, though this is generally unnecessary.

Special Heavy Attack – Absolute Fullness

Once you’ve used up all the Circuit Energy, your Concerto Energy will usually be full. At full Concerto Energy, Iuno can perform a special Heavy Attack: Absolute Fullness. Hold down the Basic Attack key, and Iuno will deploy a Fullmoon Domain.

This domain lasts for a fixed 30 seconds and will not end early even if Iuno leaves the field. It has two effects:

Heals HP and restores stamina every 5 seconds.
When the active character in the domain gains a shield, they receive a stack of Wan Light. Each stack provides 4% universal DMG Deepen, up to 10 stacks (40% total). However, like most Outro Skill’s effects, if you switch characters, all Wan Light stacks will disappear.
Note: Iuno cannot provide shields to other characters, so the full benefit of Wan Light can only be utilized by characters who can frequently gain shields themselves, such as Augusta.

However, Iuno’s Outro effect offers a small compensation: it provides 50% Heavy Attack DMG Deepen for 14 seconds. This makes Iuno a viable replacement for Mortefi in Jiyan teams, aside from her synergy with Augusta.

Resonance Liberation & Inherent Skills

The Resonance Liberation is straightforward: it deals damage and enters the Half Moon state. It can be cast in mid-air without height restrictions.

Inherent Skill 1 allows Iuno to frequently gain shields.
Inherent Skill 2 grants Iuno 5 stacks of Wan Light each when using an Intro Skill or Resonance Liberation. Since Iuno’s rotations are short, there is little time to slowly stack Wan Light otherwise.

Casting Unfinished Refrain unleashes a flurry of strikes, dealing Aero DMG.
Unfinished Refrain shares the same Cooldown as Closing Refrain.

Arc Beyond the Edge
When Iuno is in Lunar Cycle – New Moon, her Resonance Skill is replaced with Arc Beyond the Edge, which has 2 initial charges.
Casting Arc Beyond the Edge causes Iuno to shift position and deal Aero DMG, considered as Resonance Liberation DMG.

Can be cast in mid-air.

Iuno Resonance Liberation
DMG Multiplier

Resonance Liberation Lv:

Deal Aero DMG and activate the Lunar Cycle state.
Can be cast in mid-air.

Iuno Forte Circuit
DMG Multiplier

Forte Circuit Lv:

Lunar Cycle
Iuno can activate Lunar Cycle by casting Resonance Skill – Closing Refrain or Resonance Liberation.
Lunar Cycle has two states: Half Moon and New Moon. By default, Iuno enters the Half Moon state when activating Lunar Cycle and can switch between the two states by casting Heavy Attack – Flux.
When in Lunar Cycle:
– Iuno’s Jump is replaced with Heavy Attack – Flux. STA won’t recover when Iuno is in mid-air.
– Iuno’s movement becomes Meandering, which consumes STA continuously in mid-air to move in a unique manner.
– Performing environmental interactions, using Utilities, or holding Jump will end Lunar Cycle.

Lunar Cycle – Half Moon
Iuno attacks using the Moonring, restoring Sentience on hit.
She can use Heavy Attack – Flux: Moonbow to deal Aero DMG (considered as Resonance Liberation DMG) and switch to Lunar Cycle – New Moon.
Heavy Attack – Flux: Moonbow can be cast in mid-air.

Lunar Cycle – New Moon
Iuno attacks using the Moonbow. While in this state, casting Moonbow – Basic Attack, Resonance Skill – Arc Beyond the Edge, or Moonbow – Dodge Counter consumes Sentience to increase the skill’s DMG Multiplier, restore additional Concerto Energy, and heal nearby Resonators in the team.
Iuno can use Heavy Attack – Flux: Moonring to deal Aero DMG (considered as Resonance Liberation DMG) and switch to Lunar Cycle – Half Moon.
Heavy Attack – Flux: Moonring can be cast in mid-air.

Heavy Attack – Absolute Fullness
When Iuno’s Concerto Energy is full, her Heavy Attack is replaced with Absolute Fullness.
Casting Absolute Fullness ends Lunar Cycle, provides healing for nearby Resonators in the team, deals Aero DMG to nearby targets (considered as Resonance Liberation DMG), and conjures a Full Moon domain at her location. This effect can be triggered once every 25s.
Can be cast in mid-air.

Full Moon Domain
Resonators inside the domain periodically restore HP and STA.
Gaining a Shield inside the domain grants 1 stack of Blessing of the Wan Light. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s.

Blessing of the Wan Light
The receiving Resonator gains 4% all DMG Amplification for 10s, stacking up to 10 times. Gaining new stacks resets the duration. This effect ends early if the receiving Resonator is switched off the field.

Sentience
Iuno can hold up to 100 points of Sentience.
Casting Intro Skill restores 40 points of Sentience.
Casting Resonance Liberation restores 60 points of Sentience.
Casting Closing Refrain or Unfinished Refrain restores 25 points of Sentience.
When Iuno is in Lunar Cycle, Moonring – Basic Attack, Moonring – Dodge Counter, and Mid-air Attack restore Sentience on hit.

S1
Iuno gains a 40% attack increase, energy regen, and interruption resistance, The damage boost of S1 is around. The energy regen effect specifically states that after Iuno deploys her Fullmoon Domain, she continues to be treated as within the domain even when off-field, meaning she receives at least 25 energy. This makes energy regeneration substats largely unnecessary for Iuno after obtaining S1.

S2
Provides an additional 40% damage deepen buff after reaching 10 stacks of Wan Light. This enhances Iuno’s personal damage by about 25% and improves overall team damage in compositions like Jinhsi-Shorekeeper by approximately 16%.

S3
Further increases the damage of Iuno’s Bow Attacks and Arrow Shots while in the New Moon state, resulting in roughly a 20% personal damage boost.

S4
Grants the entire team a substantial non-shared shield.

S5
Offers only minimal improvements.

S6
Alters Iuno’s gameplay rotation. When following the same rotation as pre-S6, her personal damage increases by about 35%. However, by fully utilizing all the benefits provided by S6, Iuno’s personal damage can increase by at least 101.

The signature weapon is undoubtedly the best. However, Xiangli Yao’s signature weapon performs at about 93% of it, and when considering the overall team damage, the difference is less than 2%. Therefore, pulling for the signature weapon is unnecessary.

Additionally, Iuno has no specific need for Concerto Energy weapons, so there is no reason to equip Marcato.

Calcharo

Calcharo primarily uses the enhanced Basic Attack and enhanced Forte Circuit after using Resonance Liberation for damage output. In the series of damage output after using Resonance Liberation, the damage ratio between Resonance Liberation and Basic Attack is approximately 2.2:1. Additionally, the Resonance Skill can be released at intervals, allowing full enjoyment of the permanent five-star weapon’s effects.

After using Resonance Liberation, Calcharo gains a new Basic Attack model. The multiplier for this attack is related to the level of Resonance Liberation, but the main proportion of his damage comes from the “Death Messenger” in Forte Circuit. Resonance Skill can be used during the Liberation period to interrupt Basic Attack combos, quickly generate Forte Circuit Energy, and trigger “Death Messenger”. The main components of his damage output consist of these three elements.

Encore

mong the permanent 5-star Fusion DPS characters, Encore enters an enhanced state and changes attack mode after activating Resonance Liberation. The main source of Encore’s damage comes from Basic Attacks after activating Resonance Liberation, not the Forte Circuit. Additionally, the cooldowns for Encore’s regular Resonance Skill and the enhanced Resonance Skill during Resonance Liberation are independent of each other.

In Encore’s damage output after activating Resonance Liberation, Basic Attack damage accounts for nearly 70%. Choosing Sanhua as a teammate can maximize her damage potential.

Sanhua

Although Sanhua has burst capabilities, the overall damage is not high. In Sanhua’s output cycle, Resonance Skill damage and Resonance Liberation account for approximately 51% and 41%, respectively.

Although Resonance Skill damage is slightly higher, there is a risk of missing in actual combat. Sanhua has a unique Forte Circuit trigger mechanism similar to rhythm games, and hitting enemies can cause a slight time-stopping effect.

Sanhua has the fastest Concerto Energy and Resonance Energy acquisition efficiency in the game, making it the most versatile and best-feeling support in the current version. After using the Intro Skill, Sanhua only needs 3 seconds to fully charge Concerto Energy and trigger QTE, activating the Main DPS for output. Our team composition recommendations for various characters also show Sanhua’s high versatility.
